Aussie Insightly (aussieinsightly.com) is an independent Australian digital news publisher owned and operated by Capital Circle Press Pty Ltd (ACN 667 445 118), a New South Wales company with its registered office at Level 14, 1 Martin Place, Sydney NSW 2000. The Editor-in-Chief, James Mitchell, holds ultimate responsibility for all editorial standards, publication decisions and corrections. This policy explains how our journalism is produced, how we distinguish content types, and how we maintain independence from commercial influence.
Who is responsible for our journalism?
James Mitchell, Editor-in-Chief (james.mitchell@aussieinsightly.com, +61 2 5550 1901), is the senior editorial authority at Aussie Insightly. He is accountable for every piece of content published on the site, including the editorial policy itself, corrections, and the upholding of professional standards. The editorial team operates under his direction, with managing editor Emma Nguyen (emma.nguyen@aussieinsightly.com, +61 2 5550 1902) overseeing daily newsroom operations, headline review and commissioning.
How do we produce our articles?
Every article published by Aussie Insightly is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by a subject-area editor, and fact-checked by our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Thomas Walsh (thomas.walsh@aussieinsightly.com, +61 2 5550 1906), before it goes live. This three-stage process applies to all content types: news, analysis, opinion, features, and sponsored material.
Our editorial mission is to deliver trustworthy Australian journalism that helps readers understand complex issues without spin or oversimplification. Writers are expected to attribute all claims to named sources, documents or verifiable data. Where a source requests anonymity, the reason must be approved by the editor and stated in the article. The editorial team does not publish material based on anonymous sources without corroboration.
What is the difference between news, opinion, features, sponsored and affiliate content?
Aussie Insightly clearly labels each piece of content so readers can immediately understand what they are reading. News articles report facts, events and developments with impartiality. Opinion pieces are explicitly marked with an “Opinion” label and present the personal views of the author; they are commissioned or submitted under the oversight of the Politics & Public Affairs Editor, Liam O’Brien (liam.obrien@aussieinsightly.com, +61 2 5550 1903) or the Culture & Society Editor, Charlotte Singh (charlotte.singh@aussieinsightly.com, +61 2 5550 1905), depending on topic. Features are longer-form journalism that may include analysis or narrative, and they carry a “Feature” tag.
Sponsored content is clearly labelled as “Sponsored”, “Paid Content” or “Presented by [partner name]” at the top of the page. Our Sponsored Content Policy details how we ensure sponsorship does not influence editorial conclusions. Affiliate links are disclosed within the article or at the bottom of the page; we may earn a commission when readers click and purchase through these links, but this never determines the inclusion or positioning of any product or service. Full disclosure terms are in our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.
How do we ensure transparency at the article level?
Every article on Aussie Insightly includes the writer’s byline, their role or title, and a link to their author biography on our Our Team page. The publication date and, where an article has been substantively updated, an “Updated” timestamp appear directly below the headline. At the end of each article, readers will find a standard editor’s note stating the article was reviewed, fact-checked and approved by a human editor. If the article has been corrected, a corrections notice is appended with the date and nature of the change, as described in our Corrections Policy.
How do we maintain our editorial independence?
Aussie Insightly is owned by Capital Circle Press Pty Ltd, a privately held company. Our ownership structure is detailed on the Ownership & Funding page. Commercial relationships — including display advertising, affiliate links, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing — never determine editorial conclusions. The editorial team operates with full autonomy from the commercial department. No advertiser or partner has prior review of editorial content, and no commercial agreement can compel a piece to be written or suppressed.
What is our policy on artificial intelligence and automation?
AI-assisted tools may support research, drafting, editing, formatting, translation, metadata generation, headline options, summaries and transcription. However, these tools never replace human editorial judgement. Every piece of published editorial content is reviewed, fact-checked and approved by a human editor. AI must never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. Full details are available on our AI & Automation Policy page.
How are writers and sources attributed?
All writers are named in their bylines. No anonymous bylines are used. Writers are identified by their full name (first and last) and, where relevant, their position within the newsroom. Readers can find biographies and contact details for every editorial team member on our Our Team page. Sources are attributed as specifically as possible, with links to primary documents, reports or official statements where available.
How can I make a complaint about editorial content?
If you believe a story contains an error, lacks fairness, or breaches our editorial standards, please contact our corrections and complaints team at complaints@aussieinsightly.com or by phone at +61 2 5550 1906 (Thomas Walsh, Standards & Fact-Checking Lead). We will acknowledge receipt within two business days and provide a substantive response within 10 business days. Our full Complaints Procedure outlines the process, including escalation to the Editor-in-Chief.
